In 1853 he came to his present place. On the 22nd of March, 1855, he married Miss Sarah H. Leuman; she was born in Vermilion County, Illinois. They have three children: Wilson, Mary C. and Martha J. He owns five hundred and twenty acres in this county, which he has earned by his own labor and management. After he became of age he worked eight years for one hundred dollars a year. He has hauled many loads of apples to Chicago by ox team; he made his first trip about 1844." Hiram & Sarah are listed on the 1855, 1860, 1870 & 1880 censuses of Georgetown, Vermilion Co., IL. Hiram Dye died September 28, 1882 in Georgetown, Vermilion, Illinois. Sarah Helen Lewman Dye died on May 12, 1908 in Georgetown, Vermilion Co., Illinois. Hiram & Sarah are buried at Mt. Pisgah (Liberty Church) Cemetery, Georgetown, Illinois.
