THE FAMILY OF ALBERT R. VAN WINKLE & MARGARET BUSH
| Marriage of Albert R. Van Winkle & Margaret Bush | Albert
R. Van Winkle married Margaret Bush on April 13, 1811 in the Paramus Church in
Bergen Co., NJ. Albert is on the tax lists for Saddle River, Bergen Co., NJ
in 1813, 1814 & 1816. Albert Van Winkle probably died between 1816 &
1820. In 1820 Margaret is on the 1820 census of Ontario Co., NY with her 3
children, living with her parents (Lodowick & Magdalena Bush) who had emigrated
there. I'm not sure where Margaret and the children were living in 1830, but there
is a female the right age to be Margaret living in the household of her brother
John L. Bush on the 1840 census of Benton, Yates Co., NY. Margaret is listed in
John L. Bush's household on the 1850 (age 61) and 1860 (age 72) censuses of Benton,
Yates Co., NY. Margaret Bush Van Winkle died on June 26, 1864 in Benton, Yates
Co., NY. Of the 3 children from this marriage, only Hannah married and had
descendants, and all 3 children probably died before 1855. Notes for Albert R. Van Winkle Notes for Margaret Bush |
The children of Albert Van Winkle & Margaret Bush:
| Hannah Van Winkle | Hannah Van Winkle was born about 1813 in probably
Saddle River, Bergen Co., NJ. She married Lawrence Thorn on December
20, 1835 in Benton, Yates Co., NY. Lawrence & Hannah are on the 1850 census
of Painted Post, Steuben Co., NY with their 6 children. In March 1854 Lawrence
remarried Martha Clark - I have assumed that Hannah died between 1850 &
March of 1854. The Family of Lawrence Thorn & Hannah Van Winkle Notes for Hannah Van Winkle | |
| Son Van Winkle | Son Van Winkle was born between 1813-1817, probably in Saddle River, Bergen Co., NJ. He is listed on the 1820 census with the family, but probably died young. | |
| Jacob Van Winkle | Jacob Van Winkle was born about June 1, 1817, probably in Saddle River, Bergen Co., NJ. I assume he is one of the males under 10 listed with his mother Margaret on the 1820 census of Ontario Co., NY - I have not been able to find the familiy on the 1830 census. As far as I know he did not marry, and died when he was about 19-1/2 years old. Jacob Van Winkle died on January 18, 1837 in Yates Co., NY, and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Torrey, Yates Co., NY. His Bush grandparents and some of his other Bush relatives are also buried there. |
