of John & Mary Ann (Moore) Brees, and were their neighbors for over 50 years.
John Thorn's family is listed on the 1830 census of Elmira, Tioga Co., NY and
on the 1840 & 1850 census Elmira, Chemung Co., NY. The town of Horseheads
was formed from part of Elmira on February 8, 1854, and they are listed on the
1860 census of Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. John's niece Sarah Jane Thorn married
John & Mary Ann's son Solomon Brees in 1865. Ann Elizabeth Carpenter Thorn
died on June 02, 1868 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. John is listed as head of
household on the 1870 census of Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY, with the family of
his married son, Daniel. John Thorn died on June 24, 1872 in Horseheads, Chemung

in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. There is a female the right age group to be
Elizabeth, age 6, in the household of John Thorn on the 1830 census of Elmira,
Tioga Co., NY. There is a female the right age group to be Elizabeth, age 16,
in the household of John Thorn on the 1840 census of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY.
I have not found Elizabeth on the 1850 census at this time; she is not listed
with her parents. She is listed on the 1855 census of Horseheads, Chemung, NY
as a boarder in the household of Ebenezer & Clarissa Mather. Elizabeth &
Clarissa Mather's occupations are both listed as "milliner". Elizabeth
married Ebenezer Mather on April 11, 1858 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY.
She was age 33 at the time of this marriage. Ebenezer (age 51) & Elizabeth
(age 36) are listed on the 1860 census of Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY under the
last name of Mathews. Ebenezer died on July 2, 1867 in Horseheads. Elizabeth is
on the 1870 & 1880 censuses of Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. In 1870 she is
age 46, occupation Milliner Merchant, she is listed as a Milliner in the 1874
Horseheads City Directory, and in 1880 she is age 55, widowed, Occupation Milliner.
I have not found any record that Elizabeth had any children. Elizabeth Thorn
Mather died on March 25, 1897 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. She is buried
in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, Chemung, NY. Her will is listed in Volume

| Mary Thorn | Mary Thorn was born on October 22, 1825
in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. There is a female the right age group to be
Mary, age 5, in the household of John Thorn on the 1830 census of Elmira, Tioga
Co., NY. There are only 2 females age 10-15 in the household of John Thorn on
the 1840 census of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY, which is puzzling because he should
have Mary, age 15, Harriet, age 12 & Fanny, age 10. Mary married Robert
Stewart in 1842 in Drayton Plains, Waterford, MI and they had at least 6 children.
The family is listed on the 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880 censuses of Independence,
Oakland Co., MI. Mary Thorn Stewart died between 1880-1900, probably in Oakland
Co., MI. Robert Stewart is listed as age 83, widowed on the 1900 census of

| Harriett Thorn | Harriett Thorn was born on January 01,
1828 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. There is a female the right age group
to be Harriet, age 2, in the household of John Thorn on the 1830 census of Elmira,
Tioga Co., NY. There are only 2 females age 10-15 in the household of John Thorn
on the 1840 census of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY, which is puzzling because he should
have Mary, age 15, Harriet, age 12 & Fanny, age 10. Harriet married Warren
Lincoln on July 4, 1846 and they had 2 children. The family is listed on the
1850 census of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY, and at that time Harriet was age 32. Harriett
either died or separated from Warren between 1850 to 1860, and Warren moved from
New York to Iowa in that same time period. In 1860, Warren Lincoln is listed on
the 1860 census Hilton Twp., Iowa Co., IA with wife Rosetta E, age 34, and an
older daughter in the household that was not listed on the 1850 census. Their
son Randall is listed at age 22 on the 1870 census of Horseheads, Chemung Co.,
NY living with Harriet's married sister Ann (John) Bowman. Harriett Thorn Lincoln
died sometime after 1850, possibly before 1860 in NY or IA. She is listed
on at least one online tree as dying on November 23, 1923 in Breesport, PA, but
I have not been able to find her on any census records after 1850, and as Warren

| Fanny Thorn | Frances "Fanny" Sayre Thorn was born on
July 31, 1830 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. She was the twin of Townsend
Thorn, who died in infancy. There is a female the right age group to be Fanny,
age baby, in the household of John Thorn on the 1830 census of Elmira, Tioga Co.,
NY. There are only 2 females age 10-15 in the household of John Thorn on the 1840
census of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY, which is puzzling because he should have Mary,
age 15, Harriet, age 12 & Fanny, age 10. She is listed with her parents at
age 20 on the 1850 census of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY. Fanny married Jacob Dobell
about 1851 and they had at least 2 sons. The family is listed on the 1860 &
1870 censuses of Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. In 1860 Jacob's occupation is listed
as Grocer, and in 1870 it is listed as Saloon Keeper. Frances "Fanny"
Sayre Thorn Dobell died on September 08, 1870 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY.
Jacob married Paulina after Fanny died, and they had at least one more
son, born in 1879. Jacob is listed as age 79 & widowed in the household of
his married daughter Anna Westfall on the 1900 census of Sayre, Bradford Co.,

Daniel, age 1, in the household of John Thorn on the 1840 censuses of Elmira,
Chemung (Tioga) Co., NY. He is listed with his parents at age 10 on the 1850 census
of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY. He is listed with his parents at age 20 on the 1860
census of Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. Daniel married Margaret Harding
on March 11, 1868 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY, and they had at least one daughter
named Effie. The family is listed on the 1870 & 1880 censuses of Horseheads,
Chemung Co., NY and on the 1900 census of Erin, Chemung Co., NY. Daniel died
in 1906, probably in Erin, Chemung Co., NY. Margaret is listed as age 70 &

Co., NY. Margaret died on November 13, 1915 and she & Daniel are both buried

Ormiston Thorn died on October 15, 1887 in Chemung Co., New York. I do not find
Townsend on the 1900 census at this time. Townsend Carpenter Thorn died on
March 22, 1907 in Chemung Co., NY. Townsend & wife Francis J. (Fannie)
