THE FAMILY OF OLE P. LUNDE & INGEBORG VIKER
| Ole P. Lunde family | Ole Pederson Lunde
was the younger son of Peder & Else (Gravli) Lunde. He married Ingeborg
Olsdatter Viker on May 15, 1881 in Grand Meadow, Mower Co., MN, and they had
6 children. The family is listed on the 1900, 1905, 1910, & 1920 censuses
of Moscow Twp, Freeborn Co., MN. This family photo was taken about 1919. The photo
was taken because Cornelia had traveled to MN from MT for Elwood's birth and Pete
was home from the logging camps in Canada so Ole wanted a studio photo taken.
Ole and Ingeborg retired from farming in 1920, and went to Hayward to live. Their
son Rudolph took over the Moscow farm. Son Peter bought his own farm down the
road. Pete's son, Olaf, said that for about 5 minutes their daughter Margaret
owned the Moscow farm, then she signed papers (quit claim?) as the elder, and
it went to Rudolph. Margaret lived in Hayward with her parents after they moved
to Hayward. They are listed on the 1930 census of Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN. Ole
P. Lunde died on April 18, 1933 and Ingeborg died on June 18, 1948, both in Hayward,
Freeborn Co., MN. They are buried in the Hayward Cemetery, Hayward, Freeborn
Co., MN Notes for Ole Pederson Lunde Notes for Ingeborg Olsdatter Viker Lunde Lunde Land Records - Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN Lunde/Viker Land Records - Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN |
The children of Ole P. Lunde & Ingeborg Viker:
| 1. Pete Lunde | Peder Oliver"Pete" Lunde was born
April 15, 1882 in Hayward, Freeborn Co., Minnesota. He is listed with his
parents on the 1900, 1905, 1910 & 1920 censuses of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN.
I am guessing that this photo is about 1900 at age 18. Pete married Emma Stoa
on October 30, 1920, and they had two sons. Pete & Emma bought a farm down
the road from his father's farm (later his brother Rudolph's farm) after they
married. The family is on the 1930 census of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN. Pete
died on May 17, 1964 in Freeborn Co., MN. Photos & Records for Pete Lunde Notes for Pete Lunde
| 2. Margaret Lunde | Margaret Emilia Lunde
was born September 21, 1883 in Thief River Falls, MN. She is the only child
of Ole & Ingeborg Lunde who was not born in Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN, and
they lived in Freeborn County all of their married life. I believe that Margaret
was born in Theif River because Ingeborg Lunde traveled up to northern Minnesota
to attend the wedding of her sister Caroline Viker to O. M. Omlie on August 27,
1883 in Fargo, ND; it is my guess that she then stayed with her parents who were
living near Thief River Falls until Margaret was born before traveling home again.
Margaret is listed with her parents on the 1900, 1905, & 1910 censuses of
Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN. Margaret never married. I have not found her on the
1920 census at this time, but her parents retired from farming that year and moved
into Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN. Margaret is listed with them on the 1930 census
Hayward Village, Freeborn co., MN. She was an excellent seamstress and made many
of her sisters and cousins dresses. Margaret Lunde died in May 1982 in Freeborn
Co., MN. | |
| 3. Rudolph Lunde | Rudolph Engvald Lunde was born April
07, 1888 in Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN. He is listed with his parents on the
1900, 1905 & 1910 censuses of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN. Rudolph married Hattie
Nordland on November 27,1915 and they had 5 children. The family is listed
on the 1920 census of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN, living next door to the household
of Rudolph's parents. Rudolph's parents retired from farming in 1920 and moved
to Hayward; at that time his sister Margaret inherited their farm, but she signed
it over to Rudolph & Hattie. Rudolph & family are listed on the 1930 census
of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN. Rudolph died in May 1976 at Albert Lea, Freeborn
Co., MN. | |
| 4. Viola Lunde | Viola Caroline Lunde was born July 20,
1890 in Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN. She is listed with her parents on the 1900,
1905, & 1910 censuses of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN. Viola married Carl Bagley
in December 1917 and they had 4 children. The family is listed on the 1920 &
1930 censuses of Riceland, Freeborn Co., MN. Viola died in July 1980 in Albert
Lea, Freeborn Co., MN. Photos & Records for Viola Lunde Notes for Viola Lunde
| 5. Cornelia Lunde | Anna Cornelia Lunde was
born March 30, 1892 in Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN. She is listed with her parents
on the 1900, 1905, & 1910 censuses of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN. Cornelia married
Percy Brees on July 12, 1917 in Great Falls, MT and they had 6 children.
In 1920 the family should be in Teton or Choteau County, Montana on their homestead
with husband Percy Brees, son Elwood (1) and pregnant with Phyllis, born July
1920. I haven't found them on the census yet, but the birth certificate of daughter
Phyllis, born July 20, lists her post office as Breeston, MT. (The Breeston Post
office was their house on the homestead). As the postmasters took the census records,
maybe that is why they are not included on the census records that year. They
moved from the homesead into Great Falls, MT, and are listed on the 1930 census
of Great Falls, Cascade Co., MT. Percy died unexpectedly of a heart attack on
June 14, 1951 in Great Falls. Cornelia died on November 2, 1980 in Denver,
CO. Percy & Cornelia are both buried in the New Highland Cemetery, Great
Falls, Cascade Co., MT. Photos of Cornelia Lunde & her ancestors The Family of Percy & Cornelia Brees Notes for Cornelia Lunde
| 6. Atlanta Lunde | Atlanta Nickolina Lunde was born July
1895 in Hayward, Freeborn Co., MN. She is listed with her parents on the 1900,
1905, & 1910 censuses of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN. I am guessing this photo
is HS graduation in 1914. She is listed with her brother Rudolph's family on the
1920 census of Moscow Township, Freeborn Co., MN. About that time Atlanta went
to visit her sister Cornelia, who had moved to Montana. Atlanta married Calmer
Moe on Sept. 14, 1921, probably in Great Falls, Cascade Co., MT. Calmer was
the son of Gilbert Fredericksen Moe &
Lena. Calmer & Atlanta were third cousins - their g-grandmothers Barbro
& Kari Hval were siblings. Also Calmer's father Gilbert and Atlanta's Aunt
Gunhild (wife of Asle Lunde) were siblings. Calmer & Atlanta had one son,
Richard. Atlanta was killed in a train-car accident on September 12, 1923.
Calmer, Atlanta & Richard had made a trip to visit the family in Minnesota,
and Atlanta was killed on the return trip home to Montana when their car was hit
by a train. The train came around a corner, and by witness accounts it did not
blow it's whistle to give warning that it was coming. Atlanta was caught on the
"cowcatcher" of the train long enough to throw baby Richard up onto
the train platform before she went under the train. Atlanta's body was put on
the train and returned to Minnesota for burial. Atlanta's sister Margaret Lunde
returned to Montana with Calmer for awhile and cared for Richard, but after a
time, Margaret & Richard returned to Minnesota, and he lived there until he
was 5 years old. At that time Calmer remarried and had two more daughters, and
Richard went to live with them in Montana. He returned to Minnesota for visits,
and was killed there at age 18 in a car accident, not far from the cemetery where
his mother is buried. Photos & Records for Atlanta N. Lunde Notes for Atlanta N. Lunde |

THE 10 COUSINS: The children of Asle Pedersen Lunde and Ole Pedersen Lunde
| "The 10 cousins" | The children on
Asle and Ole Lunde were raised pretty much together. Asle was killed October
1891(age 46) when kicked by a horse. His wife Gunhild died 5 years later in 1896
- at the time of her death their 4 children ranged in age from 5 to 12 years old.
These 4 children stayed in their home with their grandmother, Else Gravli Lunde,
and spent summers, most holidays and lots of time with Ole & Ingeborg Lunde's
6 children after the death of their parents, and were referred to as "The
10 cousins".Click on the link for a printable photo. |
