Subject: 1895 school photo (probably Moscow, MN) with names

Here is another photo that you may like to have. Let me know if I need to send you a better copy. I looked up some of the families from this 1895 school photo and found most of them on the 1900 census of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN

Nora Johnson, born January 1884, daughter of David (?) and Marie Johnson. Siblings Hattie, Dagmar, Arthur and Hertvie (male)

Inger Peterson, born April 1888, daughter of Hans & Kristen Peterson. Siblings Barent, Clara & Tonette. In 1900 living next door to my g-grandfather Ole N. Viker

Caroline (born June 1884), Henry (born July 1886) & Clara (born October 1888) Nelson, children of George & Maria Nelson. On 1900 census as Nilson, also living next door to Ole N. Viker. Younger sibling George

Joseph (born May 1882) , Helen (born May 1884), Gustav (born November 1888) & Emma (born June 18, 1891) Stoa were all children of Berthold J. & Helle (Fjeldbraaten) Stoa. Emma later married my g-uncle Peter Lunde.

Rudolph (born April 7, 1888), Margaret (born Sept 21, 1883), Viola (born July 20, 1890) & Cornelia (born March 30, 1892) Lunde are Peter's siblings, all children of Ole P. & Ingeborg (Viker) Lunde.

Elsie Lunde is their cousin, daughter of Asle P. & Gunhild (Fredricksdatter) Lunde. Elsie lived in Hayward, but her father died in 1892 and she spent a lot of time with her cousins. Her mother died in 1896, and she and her siblings were raised by their grandmother after that. I have a lot more info on these families on my site, photos of the Lundes, etc.

I think I find Laura Quam on the 1900 census in Riceland, Freeborn Co., MN, listed as a servant (age 15) in the household of Henry Anderson. I'm not sure who her parents were, but I found her on a tree on Ancestry.com and put a post-it note on the file. According to the info posted online, Laura Quam was born Sept, 4, 1884 in Minneapolis, and in 1905 she married Carl Gilbert Stemson, who was born April 25, 1875 in Newry Twp, Freeborn Co., MN. They were married in the Red Oak Grove Lutheran church, and they had 5 children, 2 of whom were born in Lansing Twp, Mower Co., MN. Laura died in Austin, Mower Co., MN on July 7, 1958.

I couldn't find Louise Nelson or Ollie Peterson on the 1900, but they may be related to above familes.

I have a little more information for you from another listing I found naming children in this photo.

Clara Nelson Smeby
I find Clara on the 1930 census of Moscow, Freeborn Co., MN married to Iver M. Smeby. In 1930 they had a daughter named Gudwin, age 8. Clara's widowed father George C. Nelson was living with them at that time. They are on the same census page as households of Rudolph Lunde & Gustave Stoa, also from the photo
I also find her on the Minnesota Death Index:
Name: CLARA GERTINE SMEBY
Birth Date: 10/03/1888 00:00:00
Death Date: 07/11/1977 00:00:00
Death Place: MOWER
State File Number: 016836
Mother's Maiden Name: HAAKINS

Caroline Nelson Smeby
I didn't find Alfred & Caroline Smeby on the 1930 census
Minnesota Cemetery Inscription Index, Select Counties
Name: CAROLINE MARIE SMEBY
Birth Date: 17/JUN/1884
Death Date: 16/OCT/1944
Comments: SP. ALFRED. PAR. GEORGE C. & MARIE NELSON. MAR. 06/JUN/1906. MOSCOW LUTH, CEM. OWA. 26/OCT/1944
Minnestoad Death Index gives date of death as 10/17/1944 and says she died in Freeborn County, MN

Nora Johnson Long
I haven't found her on the census records after 1900.
Is this her?
Minnesota Death Index, 1908-2002
Name: NORA THERESA LONG
Death Date: 10/02/1928 00:00:00
Death Place: HENNEPIN
State File Number: 021564

There are probably several of the children from the 1895 school photo in the later (about 1901) Moscow school photo I sent you but I would be guessing on which ones were who. I would like to share these photos with descendants of the people in them if I could find them!
