Dear Sir
Yesterday it was 12 mos. since I wrote to you in reply to you & your sister's letter respecting the affairs of your late father, and gave you a statement of my claim on the estate up to 1st June 1836 for $330.50. Since that period I have not heard from you. Another year and a half's interest is now due, say $15.75, which makes the total now due $204.75 and this added to the principal makes $354.75 - high time that this amount was paid and I am in the want of it. If I do not hear from you soon I shall be under the necessity of legal steps to recover the money; at the same ??? the necessity of putting you to expense. In order to avoid - it would be advisable for you to try and borrow the money or give a new mortgage for the amount. Pray let me hear from you by mail.

1855 has a land deed indicating Lawrence was of Wellsville, Allegany Co., NY selling Erwin Land.

1855 Census, Scio, Allegany Co., NY shows Lawrence Thorn age 35, Martha age 23 , George age 15, Fayette age 14, Jane age 13, Manult (think they mean Maryetta) age 7 and Edwin 2/12 b. Allegany Co. For the others they have birth place marked unknown, so I wonder if Martha might have given the information and being 2nd wife she would not know where step children were born. Where were William and Francis Edwin at this time?

1856 - Lawrence was to have been residing in Hornellsville - July 11, 1856.

1860 census - Can not find any of them. In 1860 List of Taxables in Erie Co. PA, Erie City, East Ward only Thorn listed is a Nathaniel Thorn.
1860 in the 1st Methodist E. Church of Erie, PA, shows Sarah J. Thorn received by letter August 27, 1860 residing at Chestnut Street. Could the rest of the family be living there also? She would have been about 18 yrs. old at that time.

1867 Tax List for Erie, PA in 1st Ward shows Thorn, Lawrence - $25.00.
