were married about 1802 in NY or PA, and they had at least 10 children. From
birthplaces of their children, they were in Pennsylvania in 1806 & 1808 but
in New York in 1810. Elisha was baptised on May 26, 1810 at the Baptist Church
of Chemung, located near Wellsburg, NY. There is a family headed by Elijah Moore
with numbers that would fit this family on the 1810 census of Spencer, Tioga Co.,
NY. Elisha was dismissed by letter from the Baptist Church of Chemung on July
2, 1814. The family is listed on the 1820 census of Catharine, Tioga Co., NY.
They returned to the Baptist Church in Chemung at some time, because they were
given a second letter of dismissal from the church in June 1828. They are listed
on the 1830 census of Veteran, Tioga Co., NY. Chemung County was formed from part
of Tioga County in 1836, and Elisha is listed with his family on the 1840 &
1850 censuses of Veteran, Chemung Co., NY. Elisha Moore died on May 9, 1860
in Veteran, Chemung Co., NY. There is an Esther who is listed as age 71 with
her son Asa and daughter Dolly on the 1860 census of Veteran, Chemung Co., NY
who may be this Esther, although she should be age 75. As Asa has a wife (or daugher?)
named Esther who is age 31 on the 1870 census, it could also be the wife (or daughter),
age 21 in 1860. Esther Hopper Moore died on April 6, 1865 in Veteran, Chemung
Co., NY. Elisha & Esther are buried in the Newton Cemetery, Veteran, Chemung

| Unknown Son Moore | Unknown Son Moore was born between 1801-1810 in PA or NY. There is a male the right age group to be this unknown son, age 0-9, in the household of Elijah Moore on the 1810 census of Spencer, Tioga Co., NY. There is not a male the right age group to be this son, age 10-19, in the household of Elisha More on the 1820 census of Catharine, Tioga Co., NY. I do not have any further information about him at this time. There is an Elisha Moore on later records who was born 1842 in PA, son of David & Charlotte Moore, both born NY; it is possible that David may be this unknown son, and if so he died between 1842-1850. Pennsylvania. His middle name may have been Hopper. There is a male the right
age group to be Rockwell, age 4, in the household of Elijah Moore on the 1810
census of Spencer, Tioga Co., NY. There is a male the right age group to be Rockwell,
age 14, in the household of Elisha More on the 1820 census of Catharine, Tioga
Co., NY. Rockwell married Jane about 1828 and they had 5 children. I have
not found them on the 1830 census at this time, but they had a daughter born in
1830 in New York. The family is listed on the 1840 & 1850 censuses of Veteran,
Chemung Co., NY. In 1850, Rockwell's occupation is listed as Farmer, and they
are living next door to Elisha & Esther Moore. Rockwell & Jane moved from
Chemung to Niagara Co., NY between 1850-1860, and they are listed on the 1860
census of Royalton, Niagara Co., NY, with Rockwell's occupation listed as Shoemaker.
Jane died or they separated about 1860, when Rockwell was married (?) to Anna,
who was about 30 years younger than he was. Anna had at least one daughter from
a previous relationship, and Rockwell & Anna had at least one more son. They
moved from New York to Wisconsin sometime between 1870 to 1880. Rockwell is listed
as Robinson Moore with wife Anna on the 1870 & 1880 censuses of Durand,
Pepin Co., WI, both with Rockwell's occupation listed as Shoemaker. Rockwell
H. Moore died on July 9, 1885 in Durand, Pepin Co., Wisconsin. Children of
Rockwell Moore & Jane are Esther (1830), Elisha (1836), Harriet (1840), James

right age group to be Dolly, age 12, in the household of Elisha More on the 1820
census of Catharine, Tioga Co., NY. There is a female the right age group to be
Dolly, age 22, in the household of Elisha Moore on the 1820 census of Veteran,
Tioga Co., NY. Chemung County was formed from part of Tioga Co., NY in 1835. There
is not a female the right age to be Dolly, age 32, in the household of Elisha
Moore on the 1840 census of Veteran, Chemung Co., NY, but there is an unidentifed
male age 30-39 and also 2 unidentifed females age 20-29 who could be Dolly if
there was census taker error. "Dowly" is listed as age 42, living with
her parents on the 1850 census of Veteran, Chemung Co., NY. Her father died in
1860, and there is a "Polly" Moore, age 51, listed on the 1860 census
of Veteran, Chemung Co., NY with brother Asa and mother Esther who is probably
Dolly. I have not found her on the 1870 census at this time. She is not listed
as being buried in the Newton Cemetery, Veteran, Chemung Co., NY where her parents

 | Mary Ann Moore | Mary Ann Moore was born on May 6, 1810 in Pennsylvania
or Tioga Co., NY. Her parents are listed on the 1810 census of Spencer, Tioga
Co., NY. There is a female the right age group to be Mary Ann, age 10, in the
household of Elisha More on the 1820 census of Catharine, Tioga Co., NY. There
is a female the right age group to be Mary Ann, age 20, in the household of Elisha
Moore on the 1830 census of Veteran, Tioga Co., NY. Mary Ann married John Brees
III on May 12, 1832 in Tioga (became Chemung in 1835) Co., NY and they had
11 children. I have seen John's last name spelled both Brees and Breese, but believe
the name was originally Brees. John was the son of Elias
Brees & Deborah Bennett. Mary Ann's grandmother Hannah Rockwell Hopper
was a first cousin of John's mother Deborah Bennett Brees. John & Mary Ann
are listed on the 1840, 1850 & 1860 censuses of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY. They
are listed on the 1870 & 1880 censuses of Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. In
1880 their grandson Ernest Moody is living with them - they raised him after their
daughter Minnie Brees Moody died July 16, 1877. Mary Ann Moore Brees died on
April 11, 1890 and John died on March 05, 1897. They are both buried in the
Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. Children of John Brees &
Mary Ann Moore are: Alvina (1833), Squire (1835), Elias (1837), Solomon (1839),
Amelia (1841), Philena (1843), Philander (1945), Fanny (1847), Luther (1850),

group to be Asa, age 18, in the household of Elisha Moore on the 1830 census of
Veteran, Tioga Co., NY. Chemung County was formed from Tioga Co., NY in 1836.
Asa married Harriet M. sometime between 1834-1840, and they had 2 daughters.
Asa Moore is listed as a head of household on the 1840 census of Veteran, Chemung
Co., NY, with a wife and 2 daughters under age 5. Harriet died in 1847 at age
32, and she is buried in the Newton Cemetery, Veteran, Chemung Co., NY. Asa is
listed at age 38 with his parents on the 1850 census of Veteran, Chemung Co.,
NY. His father died in 1860, and Asa is listed at age 48 on the 1860 census of
Veteran, Chemung Co., NY with his widowed mother, and a Polly Moore, age 51, who

of Elisha More on the 1820 census of Catharine, Tioga Co., NY. She is one of the
3 daughters age 10-19 on the 1830 census, and she is one of the 2 daughters age
20-29 on the 1840 census, both in the household of Elisha Moore, and both in Veteran,
Chemung Co., NY. I do not find this daughter with the family in 1850, and I don't
know if she died or got married. She is not listed as buried in the Newton Cemetery
with her parents and some of her other siblings. Daughter #3 Moore died sometime

| Lucinda Moore | Lucinda Moore was born about 1822 in NY or PA.
There is only one female age 5-9 in the household of Elisha Moore on the 1830
census of Veteran, Tioga (later Chemung) Co., NY, and there should be two (Lucinda,
age 8 & Hannah, age 5), which may be census taker error. There are 2 daughters
ages 15-19 in the household of Elisha Moore on the 1840 census of Veteran, Chemung
Co., NY, which would fit for Lucinda, age 18 & Hannah, age 15. Lucinda
Moore died on March 17, 1847 in Veteran, Chemung Co., NY. A transcription
of the tombstones in the Newton Cemetery in Veteran, Chemung Co., NY states that
Lucinda was a daughter of Elisha & Esther Moore, and that she was age 25 when

1855, probably in Chemung Co., NY. Melissa had 2 children from a previous marriage,

Co., NY. There is only one female age 5-9 in the household of Elisha Moore
on the 1830 census of Veteran, Tioga (later Chemung) Co., NY, and there should
be two (Lucinda, age 8 & Hannah, age 5), which may be census taker error.
There are 2 daughters ages 15-19 in the household of Elisha Moore on the 1840
census of Veteran, Chemung Co., NY, which would fit for Lucinda, age 18 &
Hannah, age 15. Hannah is listed as age 25 and living with her parents on the
1850 census of Veteran, Chemung Co., NY. I have not found Hannah on the 1860 census
at this time. Hannah married Isaac Lake about 1863, and they had one son
named Elisha. Isaac was a Clergyman and Elder in Leroy, Bradford Co., PA and he
had been married first to Mary Bixby, who probably died between 1860-1863. Isaac
& Hannah are listed on the 1870 census of Leroy, Bradford Co., PA. Isaac died
on April 03, 1872, and Hannah is listed as widowed with son Elisha on the 1880
census of Canton, Bradford, Co., PA. Hannah is listed in an 1884/1885 newspaper
article as living near Leroy, Bradford Co., PA. I have not definitely found Hannah
on the 1900 census at this time. There is a Hannah M. Lake listed that year in
Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY who is the right age (76) and birthplaces for self and
parents (all NY). That Hannah is listed as widowed, with 5 births and no surviving
children. She is living in the household of Mary A. Anderson, also widowed and
born in PA. Hannah Moore Lake died sometime after 1884, possibly in Canton

Co., NY. She is buried in the Newton Cemetery, Veteran, Chemung Co., NY, and
she is listed as being a daughter of Elisha & Esther Moore, and as having
