Every day that the train would go by Estelle would stand in her yard and wave. The engineer would wave back. One day he stopped the train and gave Estelle a box of candy. His name was Charles Sumner Fisk and he was an engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad and he came from somewhere "up north". Charles Fisk and Estelle Garner were married around 1888. Estelle was only 16 years old. |

NOTES FROM BURKETT-GREEN-WOODROME BOOK by Mina Mae Woodrome (PAGE 106): Edmund Bee Woodrome, George's father, was an admirer of Sam Houston. When Harrison Taylor Woodrome was quite young, he rode behind his father on horseback to hear Sam Houston speak. The name Houston in George's name is for Sam Houston. In Terryville, George operated a gin. He also worked on the wagon freight service from Old Indianola to Austin. He moved to Yoakum soon after the railroad was built. He was the first entered apprentice in the Yoakum Masonic Lodge, joining in 1888. In 1889 he became the first member upon which the new lodge conferred the Master Mason Degree. When Willie Etta Tuggle Woodrome died, the children lived with family and friends: Thomas Edmond lived with Mr. and Mrs. Owens Addie Permelia and Royal Stanley lived with Aunt Kate Gibbs.
