The Miller Family of Washington Parish, Louisiana
Some of the Knight family are also related to the Millers. I compiled the following information from the work of many researchers who are related to this very large Washington Parish family. I hope this information will help some of you with your extended lines. This has not been verified for accuracy; it is meant for a starting point for your own research.
The information below came from cemetery
records, school records, old newspaper articles, the research of others and old family Bibles.

Tombstone of Solomon Obed Magee
1816-1881
Located in Pike County, Mississippi
Solomon married first Mary J. "Polly" Ellzey. They had a daughter Mollie Magee.
Solomon Magee's second wife was Eliza Ginn, daughter
of Jeptha Ginn and Penina Magee. Solomon and Eliza were second cousins.
There are two large tombstones, and two small ones in the
cemetery. The small ones have the initials J. O. M. inscribed on them. Another
one is that of Mollie Magee, wife of John A. Walker, the man for whom the place
is known by Varnado family members. Mary J. "Mollie" Magee,
wife of John A. Walker, is Solomon Obed
Magee's daughter by his first wife, Mary J. "Polly" Ellzey, daughter of William Ellzey
and Ester Sibley. Mollie's tombstone inscription shows she was born on May 27,
1850, and died on July 14, 1912. Her mother died about the time she was born.
The fourth tombstone, which is broken in two places with one
piece, the top piece, missing, is that of Solomon Obed
Magee born on November 3, 1816, and died on April 27, 1881. This was the
location of the final resting place of the man known as "Obie" and "Obed",
the slave master.
The two small tombstones may belong to Solomon and
Eliza's children, Jacob Obed Magee, and Jeptha Obed Magee, as the 1860
census shows a Jacob O. in Solomon Obed's
household. The children died young.
Both the 1850 and 1860 slave schedules show S. O. Magee, as
he is also
known, owned slaves. The 1860 Pike
County Mississippi Slave Schedule shows S. O. owned a total of seventeen
slaves, ranging in age from one year to forty-three years. Solomon Magee's family was researched by Willie L. Robinson, a descendant of Solomon Magee. You can read the rest of his research on the Magee family by clicking

For Thomas J. Miller, I am not sure if Clara Ginn was his second wife or his first. The author of this
book said not to get the older and younger Clara Ginns
mixed up.
As you can see, Sarah Miller and Samantha Miller were not listed
with their brothers. Paul Knight
