Maurice (Maury) Knight 03-05-38 to 06-22-08 Preceded in death by his father and mother Custer and Lorena Knight and nephew Steve Knight. Survivors include uncle John (Kathy) Schober of St. Regis, MT; sisters Sharon (John) Werner of Wenatchee and Naomi (Stan) Jones of Ferndale; brothers Neil (Grace) Knight of Yakima, Doyle (Sharon) Knight of Deer Park, Colin (Paulette) Knight of Wenatchee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Maury will be deeply missed by his wife JoAnne, son Michael and grandchildren Ashley and Mike, all of Puyallup. Maury's favorite interests included auto restoration, hunting, RVing and politics. Maury attended Cashmere High School and Wenatchee Valley College. Maury was very proud to be a member of the U.S. Army, where he was assigned to the Signal Corps and awarded the Expert Marksmanship Medal. He retired from Puget Power. He was involved in numerous civic and community organizations and projects, including mayor of Tenino, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Pierce County Citizens Advisory Group and many others. Maury's many friends and associates knew him to be a man of his word who spoke his mind and energetically followed through on his commitments. Services will be held at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup on July 2, 2008, with viewing at 10:00 am; service at 11:00 am, followed by a veteran's service at 1:00 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elks Children's Therapy Programs at BPOE #1450, 314 27th St. N.E., Puyallup, 98372, or The Salvation Army, Puyallup Valley, PO Box 73298, Puyallup, WA 98373.
