BIOGRAPHY: Excerpt from the Obit of Clarence Hollister Knight
Clarence Richard Knight and Lucy May Hollister Knight. With their children they moved to Florida in 1886 for his father to take the position of Chief Engineer of the Jacksonville ,Tampa and Key West Railroad, a new part of the Atlantic Coast Line. He came at the request of H. B. Plant, and built the many large bridges on the railroad. They pioneered in seventeen different places in Florida. In pine woods, construction camps, villages, and were several times refugees from yellow fever.
Through there were seldom any schools, they saw that the children received the best education possible, often tutoring them themselves.
