Cantilo and Louisa were married in the Petersfield District which indicates that they were probably still living in the Colemore area which is just 5-6 miles from Petersfield.

Family story has it that Louisa married beneath herself. She was apparently from a wealthy, well-to-do family and married Cantilo who was a simple labourer.

Sadly, very little information about this family was passed down to me by my mother, Pearl Louisa NASH, the daughter of Lily May FUTCHER. I do know that Lily May Futcher lived at North Warnborough as a child.

The name Cantilo or Cantelo is a name from the Philpot side of the family, Cantilo Fred's mother's side. It was introduced into the Philpot family from the Bestland family. the earliest it is seen is the children of Nathaniel Bestland who married Jane Bayley in around 1670. They had five children including one named Cantelo. Natahaniel was apparently a yeoman of Ibsley in the area of Fordingbridge, Hampshire, England. This first Cantelo can be seen as a maltster at Ibsley, and he died in 1714. He also had a son named Cantelo. This Cantelo had a niece named Deborah, and it was Deborah Bestland who married into the Philpott line.

The first Cantelo Philpott was baptised at St Mary's, Ellingham on 18 June 1749, named after his great uncle Cantelo Bestland. Cantelo

The census states that Cantilo and Louisa had been married for 28 years, had 13 children in total, but one of them died before 1911.

I know from an old family photograph that in later years, Cantilo and Louisa lived in the Alms Houses at Odiham, Hampshire, England.
