Laura L. Summers, "Mother," was born in Tolesboro, Louisa
County, Iowa to Francis R. Maxwell and Rebecca Fustin Maxwell.

She spent her childhood in Illinois. In 1900 she came to Shelby County to live with her sister, Chlotilda Maxwell.
She was married in 1904 to John Freeman Summers in Harlan, Iowa. To this union were born eight children.
She spent many years of her life on farms in Shelby, Guthrie, and Audubon Counties. In March, 1944, the family moved to Audubon, Iowa, where she lived until November, 1979, when she moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon.
Laura passed away on June 9, 1982 at the age of ninety-six years and ten months at the Audubon Friendship Home.
She is survived by six of her children: Harold and Maxwell Summers and Grace Sjoblom of Audubon; Leta Swezey and Ruby Kneen of Cherokee, Iowa and Jacqueline Moore of Council Bluffs, Iowa. She leaves thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two brothers; three sisters; and two sons; Clyde R. Summers and John E. Summers.
The family of Mrs. Summers appreciates the many expressions of sympathy and concern. Everyone is invited to meet with them in the church basement following the committal service.
