Soil Conservationist
MAYS LANDING- John A. Krohn, 65, of 1112 Sears Ave., a soil conservation expert in Hamilton Township, died Friday at the Atlantic City Medical Center.
Mr. Krohn was a soil conservationist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service until he retired in 1972 after 38 years with the department. He was a member of the township’s Shade Tree Commission and Municipal Utilities Authority.
He also was treasurer of the 4- H Fair Association and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Church and the N.J. Soil Conservation Society.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine L. ; a son, John V. of Mays Landing; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Halley and Ruth A., both of Mays Landing; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Cochran of Torrance, Calf., and sis grandchildren.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent DePaul Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Boakes Funeral Home here.

84, of Mays Landing, peacefully arrived at her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 13.

Katherine was born in New Brunswick, NJ and moved to Mays Landing with her family in 1954. Most recently, she lived with her son, Jack and his wife Joyce. She was predeceased in 1977 by her beloved husband, John and also her sister, Clare Bloss. She was the loving mother of three children: John Krohn and his wife Joyce of Mays Landing; Mary Callahan and Bud Hoagland, her fiancée of Sweetwater and Ruth Moder and her husband, Richard of Mays Landing. She was the sister of Edward Van Ness of Cranbury, NJ; Vincent Van Ness and his wife Jean of Ormond Beack, FL; and Mae Romaine and her husband, Tom of Sun City, AZ. She was the proud Granny of eight grandchildren: Kathy, Joy, John, Michele, Billy, Jill, Richard, and Robert. Also five step daughters: Jacqueline, Christine, Rita, Stephanie, and Deirdre and their families. She was the proud Great Granny of nine great grandchildren: Valine, Melissa, Robert, John, Jaimee, Jonathan, Jessica, Johnny, and Carrie.

Throughout her years in Mays Landing, she was a parishioner of St. Vincent DePaul Church. She was also an active member of the Alter and Rosary Society where she enjoyed baking for their bake sales. She took pleasure is spending time with her family. A highlight for Katherine was making homemade dinners or dining out in local restaurants with her family.

Friends are welcome to call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the St. Vincent DePaul Church, Route 50 and 2nd Street, Mays Landing. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery of Mays Landing, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Vincent DePaul School, 5809 Main St., Mays Landing NJ 08330
