The application for a marriage license
between Thomas ROBINS and Sarah DRAKE:
John ROBINS, the
younger of Sidmouth in the County of Devon, mariner, maketh oath that
John ROBINS, officer in ye excise, father of Thomas ROBINS, mariner
and Florence DRAKE (widow), mother of Sarah DRAKE, spinster,
all of Sidmouth aforesaid, do respectively concent to the marriage of
the said Thomas ROBINS and Sarah DRAKE and that the paper
writings or certificate hereunto annexed. Purporting such that their
consent, were respectively subscribed by the said John ROBINS and
Florence DRAKE in Presence of him this deponent, who set his name
to each of them as a witness thereto. That the said Sarah
DRAKE hath no other guardian of her person, is not related to the said
Thomas ROBINS within the degrees prohibited, and hath had her usual
abode within the said parish of Sidmouth for four weeks and upwards
immediately preceeding the date hereof 22nd Febr 1769; Let License (signed
John ROBINS, juns) pass ye seal/ the said John
ROBINS, the younger having been sworn before me: William Musgrave,
Sur.
I, John ROBINS of Sidmouth in the county of Devon, officer of
the Excise, do hereby consent to the marriage of my son Thomas
ROBINS of Sidmouth aforesaid, mariner, a minor, with Sarah
DRAKE of Sidmouth aforesaid, spinster, witness my hand this
twenty-first day of February 1769 (signed John ROBINS,
Sur)
