  1. Dennis, Deb. Bramlett Church Deeds. Personal e-mail, July 4, 1999
Transcripts follow of deeds recorded in South Carolina. That is where I got the info about Joel Fowler's being a member of Bramlett Methodist Church:

Nathan Bramlett and George Sims transferred two acres of land near the Enoree River on "Zacks Creek" to the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church--Frederick Burdett, Joel Fowler, Raughley Stone--for the sum of five dollars on June 2, 1807. The deed, recorded in Laurens Dist., S.C., on July 6, 1807, indicates the land transfer would protect and perpetuate the existing church building:

"State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents that we, Nathan Bramlett and George Sims, both of the State of aforesaid and District of Laurens, for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars, to us paid by Frederick Burditt, Joel Fowler and Roughly Stone, Trustees, have granted, bargained, sold and released and by these presents bargain, sell and release unto the said Frederick Burditt, Joel Fowler and Roughly Stone, Trustees, two acres of land situated in the District of Laurens and near the Enoree River and on a creek called Zack's Creek, beginning on a Turkey Oak, from there to a White Oak and from there to a Spanish Oak, from there to a White Oak, from there to a Sassafras. The same being two acres more or less together with all and singular, the right numbers hereditaments and appurtenance to the said premises before mentioned unto the said Frederick Burditt, Joel Fowler and Roughly Stone, Trustees, successors in office, forever for the purpose of securing a Meeting House thereon, standing and to remain for the use of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and we do hereby bind ourselves, our heirs, Executors and administrators to and forever defend the Title thereof in fee simple unto the said Frederick Burditt, Joel Fowler and Roughly Stone, Trustees, and their successors in office, for the use mentioned. Witness our hands and seals this second day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and seven, and this thirty first and second of the Independence of America. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of us. Nathan Bramlett George Sims". Frederick Burditt and John Burditt signed the deed on June 16, 1807 (Deed Book H, page 235).
