Ringgold Citizens Cemetery.
p. 621
This very old cemetery is located on LaFayette Street near the Catoosa County Courthouse. Many markers have been destroyed and marked graves are interspersed with many fieldstones. Information on persons buried in the cemetery derived from descendants and census records. Surveyed by Louise Baxter November 8, 1991.
According to tradition, a Methodist Church that stood nearby was burned by the Union Army. The second and third churches were later relocated across the street from the courthouse. The cornerstone on the third church reads: "Methodist Episcopal Church, South 1845-1926. M.B. Sams, Pastor. Building Committee: R.J.Patterson, W.H. Trundle, C.C. Vosburg, J.L. Yates and William White." The fourth church was built in 1972 and is located on South Cleveland Street.
