William Carl Murdock

Services for William Carl Murdock, 95, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday
at Guiceland Cemetery in Anderson County. Arrangements are under
the direction of Bailey & Foster. Mr. Murdock died Sunday. He was
born Aug. 21, 1907, in Anderson County. Mr. Murdock was educated
at Sam Houston State University and received his master's degree
at Texas Christian University. He served as a teacher, principal
and school administrator. Tenures of service included 16 years in
Navarro County, six years at the State Home in Coriscana, four
years at the Buckner Home in Dallas and 19 years in northeast
Houston. He retired in 1973 after serving 44 years and resided in
Waco. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mattie
Lou "Nonie" Burks Murdock, in 1982. Mr. Murdock is survived by
his daughter, Jane Weatherford of Waco; sisters, Ruth Alsobrook
of Galena Park and Audrey Haggerty of Clinton, Utah; three
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to Stillwell Retirement Residence in Waco.
