Billy Joe Adams

Services for Billy Joe Adams, 55, Athens, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at
the First United Pentecostal Church with Rev. O.E. Davis officiating. Burial
will be at the Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Carroll-Lehr
Funeral Home of Athens. Mr. Adams died January 4 in East Texas Medical Center
Tyler. He was born July 16, 1941, in Van Zandt County to the late Jack and
Nettie Hicks Adams. He had lived in Malakoff seven years and was a resident
of Athens 25 years. He was owner of Adams Mobile Home Park and was a member
of First United Penecostal Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Cynthia "Cindy" Kay Bacon in 1996 and a brother, Leonard Adams, in 1956.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Adams of Athens; two sons, Jeff Adams and
Darrell Adams, both of Athens; two daughters, Sherry Knight and Susan Uresti,
both of Athens; stepson, Terry Thornburg of Tyler; three sisters, Ishabell Allen,
Roberta Brewer, and Shirley Shinn, all of Canton; two step-brothers, Lewis Adams
and Morris Adams, both of Oklahoma; and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers are Chester
Everett, Ronnie Marion, Daniel Brown, James Ferguson, Michael McCloud and Johnny
Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Stephens and T.L. Thompson. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
