Vera (Tucker) Farris

Mrs. Vera Farris, 85, of 109 Hurley Street, died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hospital
here following a brief illness. Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. today (Sunday) in
the Crockett Road Church of Christ with Dan Manuel and Blake Campbell officiating. Burial
will follow in the Tennessee Colony Cemetery under the direction of Hassell & Foster Funeral
Home. Pallbearers will be Claude Pool, Tom Dunbar, Earl Milner, Lester Singleton, Art Tate
and Tom Cely. The body will be at Hassell & Foster until carried to the church for services.
The family will receive condolence calls at the Tucker Farris home, 129 Brierwood. Mrs.
Farris was born June 25, 1888, a daughter of the late Dan Tucker and Mrs. Florence Hoyle
Tucker. A native and lifelong resident of Anderson County, she was a charter member of the
Crockett Road Church of Christ here. Mrs. Farris was preceded in death by her husband, James
Hanks Farris; a son, Jimmie Farris; and a daughter, Mrs. Mae Emma Stovall. She is survived by
one son, Tucker R. Farris of Palestine; five daughters, Mrs. A.A. (Maggie Belle) Jenkins and
Mrs. A.A. (Essie Lou) Owen, both of Palestine, Mrs. Pete (Clara) Phillips of Mesquite, Mrs.
Maurine Reed of Dallas and Mrs. Milan (Inez) Kelly of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian
Fraser and Mrs. Edna Wadley, both of Houston; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
