Lucy Iona McGaughy Rigsdell

Funeral services for Mrs. W.M. (Lucy) Rigsdell, 81, of Route 5, Magnolia Ferry Road,
will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Hassell & Foster Funeral Home chapel, the Rev.
Dan Darby officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park. Mrs. Rigsdell died early
Sunday morning at her home after a sudden illness. The former Lucy Iona McGaughy, she
was born Sept 13, 1901, in Palestine, a daughter of the late Dr. J.C. McGaughy and
Hattie Louise Bacon McGaughy. She was a lifelong resident of Palestine, graduated from
Magnolia School and was a member of Holmes Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors
include her husband, Morgan Winston "Jimmy" Rigsdell of Palestine; three daughters,
Louise Marshall and Virginia "Ginny" Southerland, both of Palestine, and Mary Frances
Knox of Spring; four grandsons, Clyce W. Marshall of Palestine, Lindsay Marshall of
Overton, Gary Hickman of Houston and Myron Southerland of Seagoville; and three great
grandchildren, James Marshall, Andy Marshall and Courtney Marshall. Pallbearers will
be Clyce Marshall, Lindsay Marshall, Gary Hickman, Myron Southerland, Leslie Hammonds
and Frank H. Rigsdell. Condolence calls will be received at the Rigsdell residence,
FM 1990 (Magnolia Ferry Road), telephone 538-2314. The family requests that memorial
contributions be made to the parsonage fund of Holmes Chapel United Methodist Church.
