Fred E. Barker

Fred E. Barker, a retired accountant for Bratton Drug
Company here, died in Memorial Hospital here at 3:25
a.m. Sunday. He was 88. Funeral services are to be
held at 4 p.m. today in the First Presbyterian Church
with the Rev. W.S. Blanton officiating. Burial was to
follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of the
Bailey Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Ed Bedre, Joe
Herrin, Wayne Walker, P.O. Watson, Maurice Rosson,
Harold Carnathan, Carroll Pouncey and Ben Slack. All
Men of the Church, First Presbyterian Church, are
named as honorary pallbearers. The family requests
that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a
favorite charity. Mr. Barker was born in Mexico,
Missouri, on April 21, 1885, a son of the late E.E.
and Mrs. Louise Cornwall Barker. A resident of
Palestine for the past 71 years, he attended Texas A&M
and was employed as an accountant by the Bratton Drug
Company from 1902 until his retirement in 1950. He was
a life member of the First Presbyterian Church of
Palestine. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Allie
Kiser Barker, several nieces and nephews and several
cousins.
