Walter "Capps" Todd

Walter "Capps" Todd, 87, of 1406 Shawnee, Houston, and longtime resident of
Todd City, died Monday at 12:45 p.m. in a Houston hospital following a long
illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Hassell & Foster
Chapel with Dan D. Manuel officiating. Burial will be in the Neches City Cemetery.
The body will be at Hassell & Foster until after chapel rites. Nephews will serve
as pallbearers. Mr. Todd was born in Neches on April 13, 1885, to John Todd and
Mrs. Amelia Pate Todd. A retired farmer and railroad employee, he was a member of
the Church of Christ, and spent his entire life in Todd City until eleven years
ago, when he first moved to Brazoria and later to Houston. Survivors include one
daughter, Mrs. Rennie (Phabrice) Freitag of Houston; three brothers, E.B. Todd of
Neches, and E.J. Todd and W.T. Todd, both of Todd City; three grandchildren, Army
Pvt. Gary Todd Freitag of Ft. Sill, Okla., Rhonda Kay Freitag and Glenn Edward
Freitag, both of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
