Services for Betty Ruth Davis Arnett, 65, of Houston and formerly of
Palestine and Anderson County, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount
Vernon United Methodist Church in Pert with Rev. Mike Glenn officiating.
Burial will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Bailey
& Foster, Palestine. Mrs. Arnett died Thursday in Houston. She was born
August 16, 1937 in Palestine to John Tom Davis and Alline Herrington
Davis. Mrs. Arnett graduated from Palestine High School in 1956 and
attended Southwestern College in Georgetown. She worked many years in
the office furniture and supply business in Houston. She enjoyed her
pets, reading, watching baseball and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Arnett of Houston; three children,
Sandy Polson and husband Timothy of Sugarland, Sharon Arnett and Michael
Arnett of Houston; and two brothers, J.T. "Tommy" Davis and Dan Davis,
both of Palestine. Pallbearers will be Rush Herrington, Jim Thornell,
Tim Polson, John T. Davis, Mark W. Davis and Chad Davis. Condolence calls
will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
A Memorial service in Houston will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at
Settegast-Koft Funeral Home Chapel located at 15015 Southwest Freeway,
Sugarland, Texas 77478. Because of her love for animals, her family requests
any memorials be made to your local humane society, SPCA or favorite organization.
