Ethel Wylie Adams

Mrs. Ethel Adams, 78, of Murchison, former longtime resident
of Montalba and Palestine, died Monday at 6:30 p.m. in a local
nursing home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services
will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Hassell and Foster
Chapel with the Rev. Sam Cox officiating. Burial will be in the
Holly Springs Cemetery, Montalba. The body will be at Hassell
and Foster until after chapel rites. Pallbearers will be Bill
Couch, Reagan Jenkins, Oran Wylie, Stan Colhoun, Ernest Williams
and Thomas Vallone. Mrs. Adams was born in Anderson County on
March 28, 1895 to Thomas Franklin Wylie and Mrs. Sarah Ellen
Allen Wylie. She was a member of the Rosemont Christian Church
of Dallas, and a past worthy matron of the Montalba Chapter,
Order of Eastern Star. Prior to retiring, she was employed by
the Dow Nurses Home in Freeport, and she also was an instructor
at Nixon Business College for a number of years. Survivors
include one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Adams of Callender Lake;
two granddaughters, Mrs. Carol Radke of Mesquite and Miss Judy
Adams of Austin; one great granddaughter, Miss Cinnamon Radke of
Mesquite; seven sisters-in-law, Mrs. W.D. Nixon and Mrs. W.C.
Wylie, both of Palestine, Mrs. Venor Johnson of Dallas, Mrs. O.L.
Wylie and Mrs. Lloyd Wylie, both of Houston, Mrs. T.J. Adams of
Conroe, and Mrs. R.F. Adams of Baytown. She was preceded in death
by her husband, and a son, John Q. Adams Sr., and John Q. Adams,
Jr. The family will receive condolence calls at the residence of
Mrs. W.C. Wylie, 906 Wright Drive.
