Joe W. Bowden

Services for Joe W. Bowden, 54, of Palestine, will be Wednesday
at 10 a.m. in Bailey Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Lynn Parker
and Sam Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.
Mr. Bowden died Sunday night in the University Medical Center
Hospital, Tyler, after an illness. At the time of his death he was
serving as treasurer and as a vice president of Superior Savings
and Loan of Palestine. A native of Corsicana, he was born
Aug. 21, 1930. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving as
a yeoman with the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Palestine. Survivors include his wife, Sunshine Wilbanks
Bowden; a son, Jody Bowden of Palestine; his parents, J.W. and
Clifford Trambel Bowden of Palestine; and a brother, Don Bowden of
Crockett. Pallbearers for the funeral will be John Sparling, Leroy
Rader, Harvey Rampley, Jick Kenderdine, Bill Dunnam and Mike Dear.
The family will receive condolence calls from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. today
at the Bailey Funeral Home.
