Services for Mrs. Frank (Thelma) Carroll, 79, of Tennessee Colony, will be
at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Revs. Roger
Butler and Bill Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Mrs.
Carroll died Tuesday at her home after a brief illness. She was born
Sept 23, 1909 in the Bethel Community in Anderson County, a daughter of
Alivs Buford and Willie Jo Rodgers Mangum. "Miss Thelma" was a teacher and
superintendent in the Tennessee Colony school system for 15 years. She was
a Methodist and taught the Junior Sunday School Class at Tennessee Colony
Church for 18 years. Her husband, Frank Hall Carroll, preceded her in death
Feb. 17, 1987. She is survived by her niece, Mrs. Robert (Eloise) Green of
Kilgore; brothers-in-law, Dr. Don W. Carroll and John Carroll, both of
Palestine, and Jim Roper of Lufkin; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Graser of
Palestine; and nine cousins. Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m.
today at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be made to
Bethel Cemetery, Route 1, Box 16, Tennessee Colony, Texas, 75861. Pallbearers
will be Dorb Carroll, Bob Carroll, Steve Roper, Danny Roper, Stanley Carroll,
Carroll Graser, Tom Cowan and Kent DeShazo.
