Klamath County, California

Within the Humboldt County library, Eureka, CA (1313 3rd Street, Eureka, 95501; 707-269-1900) is a research room called the Humboldt Room. Within that library room there is a unique section called the "Susie Baker Fountain Papers." There are 119 (one hundred and nineteen) of these bound volumes, the research and scrapbooks of Susie Baker Fountain, who researched the area for forty years.

13 July 1999, L. Worley examined the card catalog which is the index to the Susie Baker Fountain papers. She copied all cards headed: KLAMATH COUNTY, ignoring those that said just Klamath, Klamath River, Klamath Glen, etc., although she was fully aware that the subjects contained often were within Klamath County. She did not compare the volume numbers or page numbers to the actual volumes on the shelves. The hope was merely to give the reader an idea of what could be found in this unusual collection.

Often notes were written in the right hand corner; they are included under Subject; the next two columns are the number assigned the volume then the pages referenced within that volume. A parenthetical question mark indicates the inability to clearly read the entry.
