"Nelson Evening Mail" 17.5.1894 Elizabeth Grossi was also charged with using obscene language, withiu the hearing of persons passing on the Haven Road, on the evening of the 10th May. The aocused pleaded not guilty. Mr Harley appeared for tbe acoused. Sergt-Major Pratt called witnesses who proved the ofl'ence. Mr Harley submitted that the language had been made use of by Portney and not by the accused. Elizabeth Grosai, the accused, gave ovidence and denied having used any obscene language. J Sergt-Major Pratt said that that there were no previous convictions against the accused. fa ? After hearing the evidence, and oounsel, the justices sentenced the accused to 4 days imprisonment in the Nelson gaol. --------------------------------------------------------- " Colonist paper 20.3.1905 Messrs W. Root and Sons report that they have effected the sale of a house property on Wakefield Quay, opposite Fraozan's stores, to Mrs Grossi.
