(1794-) |
William WILLOUGHBY
Living in Bermondsey in 1851 census, with the three adult sons. He was a gardener, and the three eldest sons were ropemakers. No occupation listed for son James. Note that the place of birth for William snr is wrongly transcribed on the index record. The 1851 enumerator's return shows Mortlake in Surrey. On the 1861 census birthplace is shown as Bermondsey, and by then only John is left at home. In 1871 census is living at same address with Ann alone. Note that there is an age discrepancy on William (but not on Ann) on these censuses. In 1851 he is shown as age 52, in 1861 as age 67. In 1871 is shown as 77, so assume the 1851 census was wrong and use birth date of 1794 There is a name discrepancy on Ann across the censuses - in 1861 only she is clearly recorded as Anna. Neither of the two daughters are shown living with the family after the 1841 census. William married Ann. (Ann was born circa 1797 in Deptford,Kent,England.) |
