Mr R. J. NAIRN left for Feilding on the Thursday morning to attend the funeral of his father, Mr James NAIRN who died suddenly at the advanced age of 80 years - he was one of the earliest colonists - he leaves a family of four sons, two daughters.
Saturday, August 18th 1917- 'Eltham Argus' report
Another Eltham man is reported wounded yesterday, 17th inst - Mrs I M NAIRN received a telegram from the Minister of Defence, as follows: Regret to inform you that a cable received this day reports that your husband, 38060, J R NAIRN was wounded on July 31st. Please accept my sympathy and hopes for speedy recovery.
