George Henry BURTENSHAW
George designed a skull and jawbone model from Singer sewing machine parts to demonstrate the chewing action and the patent was purchased by a USA Company for a large sum. He invested it wisely, moving to Auckland from Taumaranui. He purchase two blocks at 5 City Rd, Auckland where he had his home and surgery. The home had custom built mahogany furniture. Patients used to travel from Taumaranui for treatment, usually removals and dentures in one trip! His son in law, Douglas joined the practice George married Grace Ella CRAWFORD, daughter of Arthur CRAWFORD and Emma Dixon ADAMS. (Grace Ella CRAWFORD was born on 19 Oct 1903 and died in 1996 in Auckland,Auckland,New Zealand.)
