Hester Exton married John Lyne at Malmesbury in 1762. Sometime between 1762 and 1776, John died. In 1776, the widow Hester Lyne married John Handy (widower). The witnesses to the wedding were Thomas Handy (John's younger brother), and Thomas Exton, who perhaps was the brother of Hester.
Hester Exton was "of Westport" when she married John Lyne, but there is no sign of a baptism of Hester at Westport, nor at Charlton, nor at Malmesbury. The Malmesbury records do have a baptism of Thomas, son of Charles & Anne Exton on 3 Jan 1741/2. This could be Hester's brother, and the wedding witness. But another Thomas Exton was baptized at Malmesbury in 1741, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Exton. Another Charles Exton is listed as a proprietor of property at Malmesbury in the land tax records for 1780 to 1789.2 SOUR S33 2 SOUR S50
