MR. JOHN INGLIS ~Mr. John Inglis, a prominent and popular resident of the Riwaka. district-died in Nelson recently at the age of 69 .years. A prominent breeder of Jersey cattle, he was. the. owner of one of the best herds in the Dominion. At the annual shows of the Nelson, Motueka, and Golden Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Associations, of which he was a member, the late Mr. Inglis. was a successful exhibitor of Jerseys. He was .also a member of the New .Zealand Jersey Breeders' Association and of the Nelson .Jersey Breeders' Association.. Mr. Inglis was a well-known hop grower and served as a director of. the Nelson' Hop Growers Association. He was a member, of the New Zealand Pig Breeders Association, a trustee, of the 'Motueka Foresters' Lodge, and a strong supporter of .the Riwaka Presbyterian Church. In former years he was a member of the Riwaka School Committee. Mr. Inglis leaves a widow, two sons, and a daughter\emdash Messrs. J. MacG. Inglis (Motueka). E. G. Inglis (Riwaka),-and Miss Ngaire Inglis (Riwaka). The interment took place at the Motueka Cemetery, the funeral being largely attended. The service at the graveside was. conducted by the Rev. A. Bloomfield,. the Foresters', exhortation being read by Mr. H. Bethwaite, of Nelson. The. pallbearers were Messrs, Alex Inglis, H. Bethwaite, Fred Hill. J. Neale .(Nelson), J. J. Inglis, and D.,L.Drummond, (Riwaka).
John married Mary Augusta McGLASHEN, daughter of James McGLASHEN and Mary Ann EGINTON. (Mary Augusta McGLASHEN was born in 1868 in Motueka, Nelson, New Zealand.)
