Sarah Jane ROLLINSON
She sailed from England to Nelson, New Zealand on the ship Cresswell in 1856. She was often called upon to act as a midwife for mothers in the area. Tracing her family back in England has been a fruitless task - it is thought that the spelling of her name might be the cause of the lack of success, as other spellings such as Rawlinson have been found in the English records for the period stored by the Rootsweb project. Investigations in this continue.
Noted events in her life were:
• Residence, From 1829 to 1856, England.
• Immigration, 1856, Nelson, Nelson, New Zealand.
• Residence, From 1856 to 1910, Motueka, Nelson, New Zealand.
Sarah married John SIMPSON, son of Charles Robert SIMPSON and Ann, in England. (John SIMPSON was born on 23 Oct 1818 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, christened on 29 Oct 1818 in St Philip's, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, died on 14 Oct 1899 in Motueka, Nelson, New Zealand and was buried in 1899 in Motueka, Nelson, New Zealand.)
