MR. C. F. J. GOULTER
The death .occurred last evening in Hawkesbury, Blenheim; of Mr. Charles Francis Joseph Goulter, in his/ 81st year. The late Mr. Goulter was born on' April 11, 1854, at Stafford Place, Nelson. His father was Mr. Cyrus Goulter, and his mother was Anne, sister of the late Archbishop Redwood. At an early age he showed a strong aptitude for pedigree stock mating and breeding, and in his early twenties he was sent by, his father to South Australia and Tasmania, where he purchased purebred merino rams and ewes, which formed the foundation of the famous Hawkesbury, Murray, and Tasmaniari merino strains. Mr. Goul-' ter was also outstandingly successful' m breeding champion Jersey cattle and other live-stock.
Charles married Katherine Louisa BROWN, daughter of Carey BROWN and Unknown, on 26 Sep 1877 in Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand. (Katherine Louisa BROWN was born about 1855 and died in 1943.)
