A YOUNG MAN'S DEATH.
Early his morning a young man named Ernest Hildreth, 18 years of age, was found hanging to a tree at Karori in the grounds of the residence of his father, Mr. W. T. Hildreth, J.P.. Deceased, who was apprenticed to the building trade, was last seen alive at 10.5 ajn. yesterday in a carpenter's shed belonging to Mr. Hildreth, sen. He was missed at dinner-time, and a search was made for him until dark. The seaxch was resumed this morning, and the body was discovered, suspended by a .piece of window cord about 30ft long. On Sunday last Mrs. Hildrerfi remarked to her son she supposed he would return to work with his former employer during the week. Deceased replied : "Yes, if I am alive." No notice was taken of the remark at- the time, and no reason can be assigned for the act. An inquest into the cause of death is being held -this afternoon.
