William enrolled at Brightwater Girl's school 16.6.1881 son of William Newth of Spring Grove.
A brick maker, Lived "Ben View" next to Wakefield Church of Christ.
1919 Nelson Elect. Roll: carpenter, Wakefield.
Headstone: Arthur William Newth 11.6.1948 72 yrs and wife Leila Bertha Newth 8.10.1959 60 yrs
Bill Newth owned a sawmill at Wakefield which he used to cut his own timber for his house, "Ben View" in Whitby Rd (now Dr. McKenzie) He also had a portable bush mill at Spooner's range and at Parkes in 88 Valley.
In 1914 Bill sold his Mill to Harry and George Page and moved his family to Brightwater, to take over the flour mill and power station in partnership with Scott Mcpherson and Emery Higgins. The Newth children went to Brightwater School until their mother died in December 1919.
Bill moved his children back to the Wakefield house and set up an engineers workshop in Whitby Road south of Belfits lane. From there he built Prices Mill that operated at the foot of the Hope Saddle, sawmills for Nelson, Marlborough and the Tinline, and also plumbing equipment.
After Martha died Bill married again to Leila Higgins, cousin to his first wife
