From Kate Haughey Died c 1824 Buffalen, Co.Cavan, Ireland aged 77 Married Margaret Wood 1784. 10 children recorded. Occupation - farmer / shoemaker / soldier at Irish rebellion 1798. Farmer & shoemaker. Served as a soldier in the Irish rebellion of 1798 at the battle of Tara near Ballinamuck along with his brothers Andrew, Ralph & Richard. In the old homestead at Killenaff are displayed the weapons used, a Queen Anne flintlock, two swords, two horse pistols, two pikes and twelve bayonets. Fought in the Irish Rebellion of 1798 Robert worked as a farmer and sometimes a bootmaker in Ballyconnell. Settled at Buffalen where they had a family of 7 sons and 3 daughters. This family together with that of Thomas Kells and Alice Forster were the ancestors of most of the Kells who emigrated to Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia.
