Wedding of BUICK - CONLIN
A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at the residence of the brides sister R W BELFIT, Alexander St, on Wednesday 16 June, by the Reverend I J Jolly, when Thomas, 5th son of Mrs Ellen BUICK of Jackeytown, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Nellie, 2nd daughter of Mr R CONLIN, of Longburn.
The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr C. F. CONLIN, was attired in a pretty dress of silver grey silk taffeta voile, trimmed with silk lace and silver tassels, and wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a lovely shower bouquet. The bridegrooms present to the bride was a lovely gold bangle. The bride was attended by her sister, miss Grace BELFIT, who wore a pretty cream delaine dress. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr W. D. BUICK.
The guests, numbering about 20, sat down to a sumptuous wedding breakfast tastefully laid out by Mrs Rawlins, of the White House.
The happy couple left by the Auckland Express for the South, the brides travelling dress being a brown tweed tailor-made costume with hat to match. The presents were both numerous and costly.
Thomas married Nellie Eileen CONLIN, daughter of R CONLIN and Unknown, on 23 Jun 1909 in Palmerston North, Manawatu, New Zealand. (Nellie Eileen CONLIN was born in 1884 in Longburn, Manawatu, New Zealand, died on 30 Jun 1947 in Palmerston North, Manawatu, New Zealand and was buried on 2 Jul 1947 in Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North, Manawatu, New Zealand.)
