Shortly after his 2nd marriage Alfred Southee left New Zealand with his family and immigrated to Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia where he purchased an orange orchard and began to farm oranges.His brother, Edward, was living in Stanthorpe at that time and he was an orchardist as well.

Alfred married Matilda Ann SIMPSON on 15 Aug 1899 in Upper Hutt,Wellington,New Zealand. (Matilda Ann SIMPSON was born in 1872 in Dundee,Angus-shire,Scotland and died in 1952 in Auckland,Auckland,New Zealand.)

Alfred next married Sarah SOUTHEE, daughter of George SOUTHEE and Emma HEDGES, on 16 Apr 1913 in Wellington,Wellington,New Zealand. (Sarah SOUTHEE was born on 16 Oct 1892 in Manukau,Auckland New Zealand, died on 23 Jul 1958 in Brisbane,Queensland,Australia and was buried on 25 Jul 1958 in Hemant,Brisbane,,Queensland,Australia.)
