He was living at 128 Reid Street,Bridgeton with his wife,his unmarried daughter Janet and her child and his widowed daughter Silvester and her child.
Previously he had lived at 93 Dale Street,Bridgeton for five years and in
Paisley for 13 years.
Extract from application:Applicant is now unfit for work from old age,his wife can keep a child and do home work.Rent #3.18/-.Doctors report:Both frail and disabled and never will be able to work.
He was on poorhouse roll from 6Jun1862 until death 24Jun1867.He was granted
1/6 per week gradually increasing to 4/- per week.At various times he was
granted shoes and stockings and a few articles of clothing.Also flannels.
In 1853 he was living in Pollocks Land,Charleston,Abbey Parish.
