bullet  General Notes:

Minnie Louise French was my gr gr grandfather's 2nd wife. His 1st wife was Louisa CLARK - she unfortunately died of cerebral paralysis on 13 Apr 1905. I have her death cert with her husband Arthur Denbigh Williams (formerly Daniell) present at death. Louisa CLARK was my biological gr gr grandmother.
With regards to Arthur Denbigh's surname: It appears he was born DANIELL and changed his name somewhere between November 1897 and 1898 to WILLIAMS. My father knew nothing of this and I suspect that my grandfather also knew nothing about it - at least he never mentioned it to my father. I have been able to prove that I have found the correct Arthur Denbigh through various routes. The birth certs of his eldest 3 children, for example, state that Arthur Denbigh DANIELL was the father and that Louisa CLARK was the mother. It is a mystery as to why he changed his name. I am hoping to find a lost relation on Genes or Ancestry who might know. There is no-one living on my side of the family who knows anything. It does not look like a crime as he didn't move away from his known addresses. Maybe a family quarrel or he fancied a new name. I also wondered whether he might have been Jewish and thought a name change might hide this, but I have never found a link to the Jewish faith.
I can also inform that I have Arthur Denbigh's army service records which double confirm his 1st wife as Louisa Clark and his 2nd wife as Minnie Louise French. I have never been able to trace his marriage cert to Louisa Clark which is a shame as I cannot get further back on her side. Arthur Denbigh's marriage cert to Minnie gives a false name for his father as far as I can tell! He mentions his father's name to be Arthur Denbigh Williams! Strange, as it seems that his father was called John Daniell. The only link I have that I am correct here is that the profession of House Agent that he gave on his marriage cert to Minnie for his father is the same as that for John Daniell. Could my gr gr grandfather has found out that his mother had an affair and that his real father was a Williams? I have no idea - I would really love to find out some day. It took me a long time to get this far and I had some great help from some Genes profs on the Records Office forum.
If you happen to have come across anyone who might know the Williams/Daniell side of my family, I would be very greatful to be connected with them.
If you would like to receive a copy of Arthur Denbigh and Minnie Louise's marriage cert, please feel free to mail me on acceber@zonnet.nl - I'm based in The Netherlands.
