Margaret YOUNG
Margaret Young was a dairymaid accused of stealing clothes. She was 20, could read and a single protestant. She was tried in Aberdeen on 30th September 1830, sentenced to 7 years. No prior convictions. She was described as 5'2 1/2", ruddy complexion, brown hair and hazel eyes. She had 2 small scars under her left eye. Her half brother Gordon, a boy was also convicted. Margaret arrived in Australia on 5th April 1831 on the "Earl of Liverpool" She was assigned to John Single of Penrith. She gave birth to a son John, on her arrival at the colony - he died shortly after, in (1832) Margaret married William MOORE on 2 May 1833 in Newcastle,New South Wales,Australia. (William MOORE was born in Oct 1803 in England. and died in 1863 in Wollombi,New South Wales,Australia.) Margaret next married Joseph BRIDGE on 29 Nov 1864 in Wollombi,New South Wales,Australia. |
