bullet  General Notes:

The following remarks were written by daughter Winnie on 18/5/1947 about Mother who desired that someone else should write "remarks" about her.
Mother is a true Quinney type known on this side of the World. As a girl in her teens, she was general handyman, on her Mother's large farm - The Quinney homestead, later owned by Thomas L Quinney - whilst her brothers were away from home working at their sawmill. Mother married when she was 20 years old and helped Father to clear the rough virgin bush covered section several hundred acres of land which Father had bought, on which to make his home. Lived in true pioneer style until said home was built. She was very capable and efficient at all she did including farm work of all kinds, boot and shoe repairs, dressmaking and tailoring (men's and boy's suits and overcoats), gardening, knitting fancywork, crocheting, painting, cooking and sketching, (expertly) sawmill engine driving, driving horse and express-loaded with firewood and filling railway trucks at Railway station with it, logging trees (which she helped to fell) to the mill. Excellent housekeeping in every way. Countless nights sitting until 3-4am mending worn clothing (during 'dole' days) until it was hard to find the original garment. Put her heart and soul into everything she undertook so it is no wonder her health gave out under the strain of being Best Mother in the World. Add to the above accomplishments that of being 'Home Doctor and Nurse' for she reared 4 very delicate babes to healthy men and womanhood after doctors had left us to die. Melvin had curvature of the spine. Reg was very badly ruptured Mother made and patented an appliance specially suitable for his type of rupture, yet neglected herself sadly. Ira had bronchial asthma and Winnie a double leaking valve of the heart.
