bullet  General Notes:

Wounded at Gallipoli and returned Sept 13th, 1915
Occupation:Dairy Factory Manager

10 Jul 1991 , Taranaki, New Zealand
Taranaki's Last Gallipoli veteran died yesterday, five months short of his 100th birthday.
He was Ngahuru Home resident "Gentleman Jack" Moller, who was born in Napier on December 5, 1891, a first generation New Zealander of Danish descent.
The Mollers arrived in Opunake in 1895 and spent the remainder of their lives in Taranaki. Mr Moller was at Anzac Cove on the first day of the Gallipoli landings. He had risen to acting sergeant on June 4, 1915, when he was shot in both legs by a sniper, ending his war service.
While recuperating in Rotorua in 1916 he began his lifetime involvement with the Returned Services Association. A few months later it was back to work at various Taranaki dairy factories. He ended his dairy factory career as manager of the Hawera Dairy CO's Tawhiti factory.
While at Tawhiti he found himself back in uniform with the Home Guard during World War II. He served under Harry LAURENT VC before being posted to Dannevirke as lieutenant.
After leaving the Tawhiti factory, Mr MOLLER worked as a storeman for 10 yeas before retiring at the age of 66. He then catered for the Hawera Bowling Club, of which he was a life member.
Among his other life memberships were the South Taranaki RSA, Masonic Lodge, Hawera Boxing and Wrestling Association and Order of Oddfellows.
One of his highlights was a trip to Wellington for an Anzac commemoration last year, when he was presented with the 1990 Commemoration Medal by the Princess Royal.
