Robert Cooper was born in 1777 in (or near) London, England. His parents were Robert and Eliza Cooper.
Prior to 1805 Robert married Mary Ann. Between 1805 and 1812 they had seven children,

Trial and Conviction
Summary
Five men were charged with the theft of goods valued at several hundred pounds, a substantial sum in 1812. Robert Cooper and another were charged with receiving stolen goods. Three of those charged with theft were sentenced to death, one got off with a light sentence (one year in prison and a fine of one shilling) and one was found not guilty. Robert was transported for 14 years, and the other was also found not guilty.
