Pacific Township - Arthur M. Gleason, age 80 of Pardeeville, formerly of Chicago, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 2.
Arthur was born on June 2, 1924 in Chicago, Ill., the son of James and Annastasia (Meyer) Gleason. He served his country in the Army from 1943-47 during W.W.II. Arthur was wounded in service, receiving a purple heart. He was also a POW.
On Oct. 23, 1948 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Stermer at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Chicago, Ill. Three children blessed their marriage. Arthur worked for Otis Elevator Company in Chicago, Ill. as an elevator mechanic.
He was a lifetime member of the DAV and also a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Pardeeville.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Arthur Gleason will be held on Saturday, June 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Pardeeville. Father John Hedrick will preside. Friends and relatives may call at the church on Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Evelyn of Pardeeville; three children, Barbara (Curt) Komen of Mo., Michael (Sue) Gleason of Ill. and Kevin (Deon) Gleason of Conn.; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Joe, Tim, Laura, Jen, Jeff and Kamron; a sister, Dolores Nugent of Ill.; many relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Patrick and a sister, Catherine.
The Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville is serving the family.
