Joseph and Nancy Front Page

Eleanor (Ellen) Allen** (1843-1918) married Nathan Franklin Gross/Groce (1845-1916) on 14 Oct 1872, in Johnson Co, Indiana. [Some of Nathan's family used Groce, not Gross, it seems].

Nathan lived in Iredell Co, North Carolina, and joined the Confederacy in Yadkin County. He was taken prisoner and released near or at the end of war, perhaps in Elmira, New York. By 1879 Nathan was in Johnson Co, working as a farm laborer for Joseph Harmon.

Nathan and Ellen lived with her mother, Nancy, after Joseph died.

Children of Nathan and Ellen:

1. Ollie Elmuttie Groce (1875-1930) married Samuel Edward Caplinger

2. Isabell Groce (1878-1905)

3. George Groce (1881- ) married Lily Pearl

4. Margaret Ann Groce (1882- ) married Lewis McGinnis
