The Arms of Simon Kynnesman of
Loddington, Northamptonshire.
c1370-c1450
Per pale azure et gules, three saltires argent.
Crest, a buck proper, lodged in fern leaves vert

This blazon was still in use into the 18th century and is recorded on the monument to Timothy Kingsman (1647-1707), the rector of Sherfield English in Wiltshire. Most Kingsmans alive today are descended from this Timothy. No direct link has yet been found that would establish his right to these arms, it may well have been wishful thinking on his part.

The original arms can be seen in the stonework of the church of St. Leonard in Loddington, and also in a small stained glass window there.

The blazon was adopted by the Kingsman families of Essex and appears on 18th century monuments to Jasper and Josiah Kingsman at Horndon-on-the-Hill. Another variant appeared later, with the colours changed [silver instead of red, and the saltires countercharged] and their saltires were "formee" (curly ended) instead of plain. No evidence has yet been found of their right to use these arms.
